ALEXANDER SITKOVETSKY
“Zello”
MIR 100390
Dark red transparent vinyl, 140 gram, laminated sleeve, printed inner sleeve, bonus track, sticker.
This first solo album of Avtograf's bandleader, guitarist and composer Alexander Sitkovetsky is a classic case of "lost" album (and for the non-music reasons at all, as it was originally released at the time of political mess of Spring 1991 here), although it was the very first instrumental guitar LP released in then-USSR ever. Unique sounded album (think New Age tracks arranged in classic hard / progressive rock mood) was recorded by Alexander with some hired guns and not Avtograf’s musicians. Anyway, it sounded like classic early-80's Avtograf at places, although more matured and sophisticated. At the same time there's many similarities to "normal" guitar and keyboard virtuoso albums of the day, including impeccable quality of sound production. Since 1991 Zello became a legend of its own, so we restored this album in fact. First, it's fully remastered 2013 especially for vinyl release at Stockholm famous Cutting Room studio under supervision of Alexander himself. Front sleeve was modeled with modern 3-D technologies on lost original LP design; there's rare photos from studio on newly created inner sleeve. And bonus track Phantasm appeared only on CD versions of album until these days.
